April Lockhart
April Lockhart was born on July 4th, 1995. When she was in the seventh grade, she started playing guitar and piano lessons which ignited her passion for songwriting. At the age of seven, April began taking guitar and piano classes. The lessons sparked her passion in writing songs. At the age of 14 April was a big devotee of her time singing and writing songs. After that, she started taking excursions to write with her father, who lived in NY as well as LA. April began to include other relevant topics into the Take my Hand song for some friends, such as peer-pressure disabilities and teen suicide. Lockhart also enjoys an increasing fan base as a lifestyle blogger and is employed by the renowned brand of clean and natural beauty Ilia. As a woman born with no left hand, she is an important part of her. However, it's not the only thing she has to tell. Lockhart's Instagram page doesn't overlook her disability. It also doesn't insist on her disability. It's a message. It's crucial to understand that each of us has many faces, our identities are varied and we are much more than our bodies. Lockhart talks via video in Nashville. "I do not wish for it to dictate my existence. I do not want to be merely known as a disability expert. My day-today life is not dependent on it. I lead a normal, everyday life and find my own solutions to problems. Because it's an integral part of me, it's something that's worthy of talking about. Self-acceptance can be a marathon for a lifetime but Lockhart is a true inspiration in this regard. She has been through times when she felt insecure about dressing in certain styles that showed her arms. She wears what she likes and proudly posts pictures of herself dressed in outfits she wears on social platforms. To her, self-love was always a lengthy process. It's true for all, no matter what their degree of self-confidence. It's important to surround yourself with those who can see and know your true heart.
